a little update

Since this blog is about music, but also about my life. I thought I’d share something about me!

Last day of August this year I started a program at the university called Interactive Sound Design. Basically it’s a lot of programming, maths and music.
It’s really tough, because I know nothing about programming (but so far I’ve done pretty good, good enough to pass I think haha).

I’m the only girl in class and there are very few girls at the entire school. It doesn’t bother me, but sometimes it would be nice to have some girlie conversation about silly stuff.
Our teachers are really good and I like them a lot. I don’t like having favourites but I think David (who is kind of our head teacher) is the best one. He explains stuff in such a good way
and he’s very patient. Especially when I sit there like a question mark saying “I don’t get it” haha.

I’m still playing in Psyckadeli. We have had a few more gigs and are planning on writing new music. Please check it out on http://www.psyckadeli.com or look for Psyckadeli on facebok.

Me and my boyfriend Mike have moved (yet again). This time into town, well 15 minutes from city center by bus. We have lived here almost 2 weeks now and we like it very much. Today is also our second anniversary
and that is why I’ve planned on dedicating this youtube video to him 🙂 Personally I don’t like this kind of music, but this song (thanks to this lovely wedding video I saw) is really good.
So here goes, to Mike, the weirdest and most loveable person I know ❤

Siesta 2010

I might as well state this here, despite that I write in English, most of my readers are not from Sweden, but for the fun of it 🙂 On Friday I’m playing with an amazing band called Psyckadeli on a festival called Siesta. I’ve been practising with them 2-3 weeks now and tonight is another practise. I’m really nervous because I haven’t been on stage for a while, but maybe I can hide behind the synth haha. Nah, but it’s going to be SO incredibly nice.  I think I’ll love it. We have another gig the 18th of June, more details about that later. This is a video of the band when they played 2007 in Kristianstad. This happens to be one of my favourite songs 🙂 so if anyone wants to go to Siesta on Friday, you should check us out 🙂

RIP Ronni James Dio

I know I’m so late. I know he died awhile ago. It was just that when I first heard the name it didn’t really ring a bell. Then I realised that he’s been in SO many amazing bands. (I was actually called a “a punk who listens to pop with no knowledge of music” which is funny since I love REAL music, the kind of music that is very rare these days when it’s all about being hot and standing sexing yourself on stage instead of producing real music lol). Dio was a legend. He didn’t care what he looked like and to him it was about delivering a good show, performing with good music and ROCK’N’ROLL all the way. Many of today’s musicians doesn’t get that (There are of course a few exceptions). But I wanted to celebrate the life of Dio by playing (at least in my ears) a nice tune 🙂

FAIL of the day

Now let’s begin the part where I rate music. Or should I say reject? This is the first blog about not liking music. So why would I waste my energy on saying something is bad instead of praise all the magnificent musicians out there? That’s a good question 😛 And I’m not going to answer it. Reject of the day: Ke$ha. This girl has NO talent. She can’t sing, she has completely lady Gaga complex (i will get to her eventually lol). If you listen to the intro, it really reminds me of poker face. Ke$ha’s songs are utterly meaningless. This is a good example of what horrible will sound like in your ears. If you DO happen to like this for some weird brainwashed reason, then I will only say this to you: get your own opinion, don’t just listen to crap cus it’s “cool”. *bangs head against the wall*

The Rutles

Being an almost fanatic Beatles fan, I am very surprised to see that I had missed this band completely. A set up as a parody on Beatles and I love them haha 😀 2 members of monty python (Which I happen to love also) and yeah… I can’t do much but laugh and… I must be in love 😉

In honour of the Irish

So it’s St. Patrick’s day. To many it’s a big festive day with everything in green and gets as drunk as you can, as fast as possible and stay drunk for as long as possible. This happens to be true in my case too. So I thought, what better way of celebrating this than to have an irish drinking song 🙂 (eventho drop kick murphy’s are americans)

ELO sure is king

I know I’ve talked about Jeff Lynne as a part of “the traveling wilburys” but I haven’t talked about his original band – ELO (Electric light orchestra) which is one of my favourite childhood memory songs. I used to babysit my siblings and we used to dress up and sing and dance to ELO and particularly this song 🙂 Enjoy ^_^

The first woman

So far I’ve only blogged about famous men and their (rock)bands. I think it’s time that we bring in a woman. There are a few really good artists out there, but I think that 22 year old Amy McDonald is the one who will be the first. Scottish singer song-writer (credit for writing her own music), weird voice (yet lovable). Most famous for “this is the life” (which I personally don’t like that much). This is one of my favourite songs with her 🙂 (personally I don’t think there is anything rock about “mr rock’n’roll” and “rockchick-of-the-century” in the video)

Traveling wilburys… in a different way

I couldn’t find a proper video of “the traveling wilburys” the other day. This is made from a comedian called Stevie Riks (can be found on youtube, he does hilarious versions of Queen, Beatles n other famous artists) and I thought it’d be fun to show you what they kind of looked like haha 🙂

here it is

Lazing on a Sunday afternoon

I think that this would happen sooner or later. The fact that I am an insane Queen fan would eventually show. So I thought I’d dedicate this Sunday afternoon (well it’s evening now, but when I thought of the idea it was afternoon) to a short, but great song from the album “A night  at the opera” from 1975  (the album which made Queen extremely famous, which also was inspired from one of the Marx’s movies). The song is written by Freddie Mercury (which you can obviously tell by the weirdness, the special lyrics and the piano) I wanted to present a live version of this song because it makes it special for that reason that they always changed the songs slightly which wouldn’t make you feel as if you were at a concert listening to a record. It made it exciting. Bonus, also the making of the song 🙂
